AS & A2
Regarded as one of the most popular routes into university and employment, A-Levels form the academic pathway for a wide range of subjects, including some that you may not have studied at school. Offering you the flexibility of studying more than one subject, you have the opportunity to build a career out of the courses that you most enjoy.
AS (Advanced Subsidiary) and A-Level (Advanced) qualifications focus on traditional study skills. They normally take two years to complete full-time. A-Levels are made up of the AS level and the A2. Each part makes up 50 per cent of the overall A-Level grade. You can study the AS level as either a free standing qualification, or it can be the first half of the full A-Level. Having successfully completed your AS year, you have two options, take the AS level as the final qualification or continue to the second year and go for the full A-Level.
A-Level GCE Intensive
A limited range of subjects are also available on our intensive A-Level programme. This is a demanding programme, in which all AS and A2 units are covered in one year. All full-time students have a structured tutorial programme including regular academic review with individual action planning and support for applications to Higher Education.
The Extended Project Qualification
The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is favoured by top universities in the UK. The qualification offers you the chance to carry out in-depth research into your own area of interest. Examples of past EPQ titles include ‘Rupert Murdoch’s power in the UK’, ‘The evolution of fashion from the 20th century to the 21st Century’ and ‘Staging a play about child protection’. Final submission is by 5000 word dissertation, a performance or production of a design or artefact.
Students who join the EPQ have developed their skills in independent study in preparation for the demands of higher education. The EPQ is the equivalent of 1 AS level and can be completed in the second year of studies alongside A2s.
